My 9week old puppy has flaky skin..?
I have a 9wk old chi weenie puppy she has flaky skin and scratches often. I have only gave her one bath since I got her at 6wks and she eats science diet. I check her for fleas every day and she is on medicine so I know its not that. I asked my vet about it and she said it was nothing to be concerned about. What can I do to keep her from being so itchy for her sake?
I had no choice but to take her at 6wks she didn’t come from a breeder I rescued her. She has been to the vet twice already and has had all her shots. I just took her to the vet Thursday for her second round of shots and the vet said she just has dry skin. I just want her to not be itchy. Whats some thing to help with the itching.
Sometimes it takes a puppy’s body a while to get everything working. Give it a little more time. For now give it a good brushing every day with a soft bristled brush. That will remove dead skin flakes and stimulate the glands in the skin.
Note, for those that want to base their decisions on well done scientific research, it is much better to have a puppy in its home at 6 weeks than 12, and Science Diet is as good or better than the more expensive ones. You will not find a single fact to back the popular food ratings or bashing the common brands of food. It is all speculation and lies.
