According to the internet site http://uselectionnews.org/, the US 2012 election map is changing to violet. It is an ever escalating change for both sides, who traditionally turn to specific states for steadfast votes.
The fact is, based on the results of an investigation of Gallup poll information, authored by the highly regarded political magazine Politico, party connection or alliance within states in america that elected Barack Obama in Nov 2008 have seen a appreciable shift toward the centrist point of view and in some cases towards the center right. States which fell on the red or blue, or Republican and Democratic teams, during the last presidential cycle now swing both ways – or find themselves appearing violet on an electoral map, leaving them competitive or up for grabs at the moment leading into the next US Presidential Election coming up in 2012.
In the last Presidential Election, 30 of the 50 states were clearly on the side of the Democrats. Today, a mere 14 states can be considered Democratic-leaning and they’re mostly in the Northeastern region. On the other hand, in the last Presidential election cycle, only 5 states could be called solidly Republican ones. Another 5 US States were also considered as being right-leaning. Most of these states are in the West and include places like Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Alaska and even Kansas.
In the 2010 elections of Congress, there were 8 total swing or purple states. That leaves open quite a few possible scenarios for presidential candidates. Now, instead of just focusing special attention to traditional swing states like Florida and Ohio, places like Pennsylvania, which used to be staunchly Democratic, are also on the swing state list. More and more it looks like Presidential Campaigns will have to spread themselves even more thin than ever before, by catering their campaigns to more local issues.
