In the next few weeks the Festive season really gets into full swing, there are many plenty of special occasions , commencing with Hallowe’en, going on to Guy Fawkes, Thanksgiving then Christmas .These are all great occasions to practice making stunning floral arrangements for your home, using the best of the available blooms mixed together with other seasonal items for example scented candles, glitter and lots more besides
For sumptuous autumnal oranges choose roses, Strelitzia, Physalis, gerbera, calla Lillie, Asiatic lilies or Cymbidium orchids. In contrast, for sophisticated purples choose Vanda orchids, gladioli, freesia, Veronica or artichoke flowers. Orchid flower heads will last out of water for a couple of days. No matter your choice of flower ensure they are of course in the best possible condition so that your hard work will last in the vase that little bit longer For a modern, light and trendy display you should try to combine a variety of different blooms in a number of different shades, use just one type of flower en masse with little or no foliage. A combination of blooms on the other hand makes for a fuller, more organic style of arrangement , with two or three flower varieties with interesting textured foliages.
The suggestion which follows will enable you to come up with a simple but stylish homemade display that your friends and family will really love. First of all you will need to buy three Orchid flowers heads from your local floists, a small bunch of willow, along with three small square vases. Cut your willow stems into two parts and use these two parts to create a mat on the tabletop. If you willow is not available – or if you prefer another approach simply use a decorative plate. A gold or silver plastic charger plate would be ideal for your purposes. Sit the vases with your choice of candles on top of the willow – if you are having difficulty finding the right colours for your candles, try Yankee candles or Voluspa candles – and simply place the orchids at the base of the glass vases. And there you have it – an eye-catching, simple decoration.
