Informational Reasons For Getting Natural Stone
Faux brick is made to look as authentic as possible and is available in a variety of materials. What type you choose might depend on where you will be using the veneer brick look, the surface that it will be applied to, and how much you want to spend on your project.
The thin brick are a good choice for ease of installation and are very lightweight. Whatever look you need there is a panel style and color, for you. Looking for an old school house look, or perhaps a red, several shades of red are available, along with yellow, brown and tan. Panels are made from a variety of plastic combination and are good for interior and exterior applications.
Panels may come in a very flexible type, which are great for installation on curved surfaces. A more rigid form is also available. The flexible panels can be cut with scissors and are about 1/8″ thick. The more rigid panels are between ¾ to 1 inch thick. Both styles are easy to install and are glued in place or sometimes glued and screwed to the surface. Panels are weatherproof, UV stable, and resist insect infestation. Trim, corner pieces are available to complete the look.
The next type would be thin brick made from various materials. One manufacturer makes thin bricks from cement, aggregate, quartz sand, and cured mineral oxide colors. Another is made from vermiculite, which is a material also used in insulation that makes each stone or brick lightweight and natural in texture. For this application a mortar must be used, as you would for a standard brick. The beauty of these bricks is the lightweight factor and the longevity, due to the materials.
One company makes a plastic brick panel that is white or clear. These panels are not colored and are designed for the purchaser to paint in whatever color they choose. With this type, you can use your creativity and make a wall look exactly the way you want it.
One company makes a panel from recycled paper and cardboard. These panels come ready to paint with any color or effect you choose. Some experience in faux techniques is required. These panels are water resistant, but not waterproof. Lightweight and inexpensive, these panels are a good choice for stage use.
Full size bricks are manufactured from a very wide variety of recycled materials. Some of the materials come from manufacturing waste, recycled plastics and waste ceramics. Great for the environment, these are sturdy and lightweight. A good choice where full size bricks are needed.
Panels are very easy to install and your project will be done quickly. The faux thin brick type may take a little more time and expertise, but whatever style you choose, the results will be amazing. Always check for installation instructions, as each manufacturer does have recommended installation guides. For damp areas there may be extra steps that need to be done. Exterior applications may take yet another method. The thin brick can change the appearance of almost any surface and make an average space a sensational work of art.
