Three-piece puts the wear back into swimwear
Swimwear in all styles and shapes has ignited the silver screen for decades. Bikini-clad Bond girl, Ursula Andress was breathtaking in the 1962 epic, ‘Dr No’ whilst Bo Derek reinvented the one-piece bather in the film, ’10′.And there was Baywatch’s Pamela Anderson in an unforgettable red full-piece that changed everyone’s view of lifeguard uniforms?
But for those of us who score less than a perfect ten in our swimwear and wouldn’t dream of facing even an instamatic camera on a family holiday, an innovative three-piece design from a Perth swimwear company is just the answer.
Julie Wiggins just couldn’t find a swimsuit that was cut properly to fit her shape.She couldn’t bear the thought of figure-hugging lycra, but she wanted swimwear that gave her support and that had some style too. Her answer ?She designed something new – a three-piece swimsuit – made it up at home and found that she was complimented on it every time she wore it. So, she started taking orders, gave up her teaching career to start a swimwear business and the rest is history. The three-piece is now the signature item for Julie’s iconic Australian brand, Viva Swimwear and women from all over Australia have been wearing them with confidence for years.
Comprising a swim bra, swim pants and a loose-fitting tank top that flatters curves, not accentuates them, the 3-piece is Viva Swimwear’s biggest seller. The design is so versatile, it can be worn by all shapes and sizes – even plus sizes, and as far as Julie is aware, there isn’t another swimwear retailer in Australia offering anything comparable.
“Most women hate shopping for swimwear,” she said. “The bright lighting, limited space and lack of privacy puts many women off, and consequently they often make the wrong choices. Being able to select swimwear online and then try it on in the comfort of one’s own home is a real bonus –even better when the item is properly cut, priced right and comes with a comprehensive returns policy.Not surprisingly however, less than 10% of swimwear purchased from Viva online is returned.”
A recent survey in which Julie canvassed over 4 000 of her customers revealed the three-piece to be an overwhelming favourite.Viva has introduced new details such as crossover straps and sash tops, but has kept the basic design as the central feature of the range.The swimwear offers comfort, support and style to flatter any woman’s shape.We may not be the next Bond girl, but we can still star in our own show.
