A while back I learned a tough lesson concerning commercial painting contractors. The lesson was simple – find an experienced contractor and pay them to do it.
My business has hardboard siding on three sides and I had to paint it and the bits of trim every three or four years. It was always such a chore! I had to scale my ladder a hundred times at least. I have this two-story section to my building, so I needed to buy one of those large expandable ladders which ran better than two hundred bucks. My community states all roofing in this zone be black, so when I would get on the roof to reach inside gables and such, I would get absolutely cooked. I would be exhausted and sweaty and the painting would be just beginning.
Initially there is sanding and scraping off the bad stuff – which means I go up and down the ladder for hours. Then I would apply the primer because if I don’t the paint will not last a year. That part took several days. Then finally I started to paint – more climbing, except now I would be carrying buckets of paint and materials. My body is not what it was when I was young and all that ladder schlepping over what was generally a couple weeks just sapped my energy. But every few years it would all have to get done againI would repeat the process over again – let alone the money I had to spend. If you have not bought paint in a while you would be surprised, but good exterior paint is high dollar and I was having to get a couple dozen gallons at a pop.
Eventually I got sick of painting and called around about having siding put on. I was shocked. The lowest bid was almost twelve thousand. I guess it was awesome material and was very durable, but the cost was like what I would spend on a used car. Plus, they said the installation would take them at least two weeks. That is when I finally decided to contact a few commercial painting contractors and get a few estimates.
While the estimates were more expensive than buying paint and painting the place alone, I soon comprehended the value for my expense. In 48 hours, andfrequently faster they told me, my property was painted brilliantly. I recall the hard time I had with painting trim and edging, and you could always tell. It seemed nice from the sidewalk but my amateur status showed through when you were right against the building. The commercial painting contractors did such a good job the building looks brand new. In addition, with the superior paint they chose and their professional work my exterior paint should last a lot longer than my do-it-yourself job ever did.
