How to be a Space Oddity at Bestival 2009
Hurry! You have to be quick. Don’t let anyone tell you that the space race is over – it’s only just beginning. The Bestival is approaching fast, so you need to get your act together. What I am referring to is the Space Oddity fancy dress theme at this year’s IOW Bestival. It is a perfect theme to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the original Apollo 11 moon landing.
You have to get on with your costume as time is short, whether you are going as Barbarella or the dashing D’Artagnon of the Millennium Falcon. But if you can’t be bothered, or don’t have enough time then there is no need to worry. Inside the Bestival site is the excellent Dressing-Up Area, which offers a great array of costumes for hire or purchase. You can also find other things of interest such as retro clothing, hair styling, nail painting and the legendary moustache bar. So if you want to twinkle and glitter under the Isle of Wight stars, then this is the place to visit. From what I have seen from previous Bestivals, the people are wonderful and help to inspire the anticipation of things to come!
The Bestival 2009 is set to blast off in its now familiar setting at the Robin Hill Country Park from the 11-13 September. Bestival 2009 will feature some of the best artists in the land, including Massive Attack, Lily Allen and the aptly named ‘They Came From The Stars’.
Fortunately you don’t need a warp drive to get you there, as Wightlink operate the best IOW ferry service available. You can either book online or call 081 376 1000 to find out about the different ticket options and to hear about further details.
