Saturday Night Was A Well Planned Event
Lori went to the Clark Street Beauty Shop in Morgan’s Cove, just like she did every other Saturday. Today was special though. Lana, the beautician, put her under the dryer after washing, conditioning and rolling up her long blond hair. She sat with her magazine and coffee cup as her hair dried.
She was especially eager for her hair to look good tonight. She and her bff, Ruba, were attending a concert over in Margaritaville, a nearby town. It was at a club where people of all ages went to drink and party. Tonight there was a special singer scheduled to perform. He was one of the contestants who had appeared on American Idol. Simon and the other judges had eliminated him in the third round. He was still an impressive singer though.
Lori started daydreaming as she decided what to wear to the concert. Black denim jeans were one of her favorites. They were casual, yet dressy. She was wearing an emerald green sequined top with them. The dryer hummed on as she decided carefully which one of her best jewelry sets would look appropriate with her clothes for the night.
As she and Ruba, her best friend, got ready they were especially careful with their hair. They wanted it to look perfect. Both planned to look flashy enough to stand out among the other women. Lori put on pale green earrings to match her green top. Ruba had on crystal earrings and matching bracelet. She was dressed in a pale yellow outfit.
She griped about her long brown hair, saying it just didn’t look as good as it usually did. Lori asked if she had heard of nioxin intensive therapy recharging complex. No, why did you smooth it on your hair, she asked. Lori smiled and explained to her friend that it wasn’t a hair cream, it was tablets you took to promote healthy hair growth. She mentioned that it worked for her. Well, Lori’s hair did look really good tonight.
They had washed the car, worn their favorite clothes and gotten all ready to make the drive to Margaritaville. They went over the list. There was gas in the car, tires inflated to the right degree, phone number to call a cab if they drank too much and emergency phone numbers. The girls reminded each other to never leave an opened drink unattended even for a second. No perverts were going to find them easy targets.
They both opened their hobo handbags and checked for their lipstick, hairbrushes and credit cards. Yes, they both had their identification cards in their wallets. Being so excited about the evening ahead, they didn’t want to forget anything. Agreeing not to break any speed limits, they went out to the car for their trip to the club to see the singer who was, to their way of thinking, a minor celebrity.
