A Peek At Varicose Veins
About half the population today suffers from some form of vein problem, and varicose veins are one such problem. This unsightly problem in most cases is just a cosmetic concern, meaning they are unattractive on the skin although they may throb or ache from time to time. However, there are some cases where they can lead to something more serious.
A varicose vein is one that is enlarged, twisted, and swollen. It is normally raised or bulging on the skin surface and quite visible in red, blue, or flesh colored. Your legs carry your body weight, plus the force of gravity, and carrying blood from the bottom of the body all the way up to the heart is a lot of work. All the pressure on the lower body can be much stronger than the vein valves.
In the majority of cases, if you have these you can see them. But sometimes they haven’t bulged or swollen to the visible point so other symptoms appear let you know what is going on. Aching pain that is worse when standing or sitting, throbbing or cramping, swelling, and a heaviness in the leg can all be symptoms that varicose is forming or has already formed.
The only problem, besides how they make the skin look, that occurs is usually discomfort in the legs. But there are times when it can lead to something more serious. Long term backing up of blood can cause sores or ulcers that are hard to heal, or may not heal until the vein is repaired. Blood clots can form which can cause pain and swelling, and if they travel up the body and reach the lungs, they can be fatal.
Many times, people that suffer vein contents experience some slight pain and an ugly reminder that they are there. However, if pain is continuous, a doctor from michigan vein clinic should look at them right away. This affliction may be a part of life for some, especially due to age, but a healthy circulation in the body can slow down the development greatly.
